Hello,
I'm t. and I have just gotten an EP-1 and love, love it.  The only thing I don't like is not having a viewfinder, but oh well, that's OK.  I love to take hummingbird pictures and it has already outdone my canon 40D by a mile.  I used the 45-200 mm lens and it has excellent clarity.  Thanks for having this forum to be able to connect with other EP fans and learn about new things.  t.

Hi, I'm from Ipoh, Malaysia. Got my white e-p1 last couple of weeks. Traded my dslr for it and very happy with it. I no longer have to carry the bulky dslr anymore! The pictures are too good to be true. I look forward to learning more about the camera and optimise the use.

Hi Folks,
Another Northern California guy here (well, if you consider SF Bay area NorCal). :)
I've had my EP-1 for about a week and half now, and am digging it. Right now, it's only sporting the 14-42mm kits lens. I'm waiting to see if the next lens will be the Panasonic 20mm or the 17mm pancake from Olympus.

Hi My names is James from Scotland but now living in Denmark.

I got my E-P1 friday with the 14-42mm kits lens and 17mm pancake and the flash. So far I have not had much time to play but the little I have been I love what I see from it. I got it as a walk around kit instead of my D300 and lenses.

I will be posting some pics real soon

James

Hi all,

Got the E-P1 w/ the 14mm as a bridge into more serious photography than just P&S snaps.  Really liking the camera and the amount of control I have over each snap.

Looking forward to share my E-P1 experiences, and learn a few tricks (or 20) from you all.  :)

Oh, and I am looking to add the Pan 20mm, soon.

Greetings. My Name is Bill and I am retired living in Hawaii.
Have 50 years of photography behind me. Shot half-frame (the Olympus Pen-F was my first camera) to 4x5 and everything in between.
Recently sold my Nikon D300 and about 25 lb of miscellaneous cameras and lenses and bought the E-P1.
Olympus just might have something going for it with this wacky 4/3rds idea :]

Hi guys,

I've recently purchased a Panasonic GF1 and so thought I'd seek out a forum that might help me get the best out of this thing and so here I am!

Having been shooting with Nikon DSLRs for the past 6 years, most recently with a D700 with a bunch of lenses. My main interest in photography is landscape and while I've had some fantastic results with my D700 out in the field, getting out to shoot landscapes isn't something I get the opportunity to do that often. So mostly my Nikon was being used to shoot local architectural shots and general local shots. It's a lot of camera to be shooting that kind of thing I felt and I suppose having spent all that money on the camera, I almost felt pressured to go and shoot with it rather than go out and enjoy my photography.

So having put that up for sale, and ordering a Sinar F2 large format camera for shooting landscapes and more "serious" photography, I still needed a digital for every day use. I had been reading about the Panasonic GF1 (and Olympus Pen) and it sounded perfect. Something I wouldn't need a huge bag to lug all my lenses around with and something that can literally fit in my pocket, while still being capable of great results.

So that's where I'm at! I've got the 14-45mm and the 20mm, and those will see me right for the foreseeable future. A complete change of photography and it feels a little refreshing. I'm not quite used to the GF1 but I'm getting there. I keep forgetting it doesn't have a viewfinder (shame) and keep putting it up to my eye. I'm looking forward to getting out more with this and perhaps trying some different kind of photography (street photography would be an obvious one). But I'm very impressed with this camera, it's an amazing piece of equipment!

Well, after that prolonged intro, I'll go have a browse through the rest of the forums :)

Cheers,

Welly

i have the evf its good for framing but little use for manual focusing, if you must bring the camera to your eye , its the way to go.

if you still have a fast 50 from the nikon stable you can home adapt it for less than 10  US dollars .......ive adapted over a dozen lenses and own  2 "real" adapters as well

the nikon 50 , 1.8 or 1.4 become a superb portrait lens with a fov of 100 mmm lens on 35mm

the gf-1  allows one to manually focuses legacy lenses even more elegantly than the ep-1 , abeit without imager stab., try it and you will be hooked

greetings from nyc , cosinaphile

With the adapters, do you lose metering as well as auto-focus?

that camera has no direct f stop info but does quite well with the ttl metering in A mode
some lenses need a third or 2\3 stop ex comp, but usually its ok at 0.0 , m mode is great too, shutter priority when using flash , [hit or miss with the gf-1 , superb repeatable exposures with the ep-1 with flash fl-14

very satisifying ,very good ,and very accurate ,and very easy .......i mf almost all the time ,i love it  but almost never mf`ed with my nikons , the pen is different..........

the pen is mightier than the ..............................you get my drift
