Welcome to the forum, neek! Have you had a chance to add yourself to our forum members map? I don't think we have too many members on it from your region.

Hello,
my actual name is Mike and I live in the UK and I've already posted a couple of pics.

I've been taking photos since my mum gave me her Agfa box camera when I was 11. First reflex camera was a 2nd hand Exa (or Exacta) a few years later. It had a waist level viewfinder that was a proverbial pain but the thing took cracking snaps. Moved on to a Zenith and then a Pentax Spotmatic that I stuck with for the next 30 or so years (although I picked up a Rolleicord on the way that I still own but rarely use).

Digital got hold of me early on and I've been through a fair few point-and-shoots (mostly Canon Ixus) because I disliked bulky DSLRs from day 1.

Finally the E-P1 landed and I have been photographically reborn, even if financially ruined by going mad on eBay buying lenses. Also have a G1 body now because the E-P1's serious achilles heel is the fairly useless LCD.

That seems to be quite a common theme on this forum!  :D  Welcome aboard.

Well....that's what I thought originally. Give it a chance and it'll grow on you. The excellent angle of view of the E-P1 is its saving grace for me. Scrutinizing DPreview's comparison tests, the E-P1 handily beats the G1 in picture quality.

I've had the E-P1 since early March and taken it out a lot. With the kit lens on auto the viewfinder wasn't such a big deal - although I had to wear a cap on bright days to be able to see anything at all useful to frame a pic, particularly when shooting into the light (my glasses don't help much either). With manual focus I find it near useless a lot of the time, partly because of the  same problems but also due to the low resolution; I end up swinging around the focus point a few times and opting for as near to midway as I can guess. I'm thinking of getting a screen shade but our local photo store is out of stock at the moment.

I've read the DP reviews but to be honest I've noticed very little qualitative difference in the day to day, both of them make great images and both have their pros and cons - so they are both staying....

Hi
I'm Mairéad, from Ireland. Fell in love with the Olympus Pen E -p1  the first time I saw it as my first cameras were an Olympus Trip and then an OM10 . At the time I  couldn't justify the cost as I had two Nikon DSLRs and various lens.
Thanks to a recent price drop in Jessops I bought it the day before I went on holidays as I didn't want to have
to lug a big camera around with me. Am delighted with the images I took and absolutely love this camera. Great image quality and it fits into my handbag:)
Am mostly over at Pbase where my galleries are at www.pbase.com/mairead but I intend popping in here regularly. :)

Please introduce yourself in this thread, and tell us a little bit about yourself!
hi everybody,
I've joined the forum to find out more about the mirco 4/3 cameras as a light weight alternative to my Sony A900.

I'am looking at the Panasonic GF1 or the Olympus E-P2 its a tough choice as both have advantages over the other i really need to see them side by side and see which feels the best in my hands.
Any advice from other members would be appreciated thanks

Hi, I am pieter a dutch professional photographer. I own a "few" cameras, film and digital. I'v bought the E-P1 a few months ago and she instantly became my favourite camera for private use and portraits. I use the pen with the Lumix 20mm 1.7 asph and the Voigtlander 35mm1.2.

hi everyone, my name is ana & i live in Florida, US. I just got my EPL-1 today and am very happy with it. When i used film I used to take my cameras out on the street to take pics but after i switched to the huge dslrs i no longer wanted to- too bulky/expensive/obvious and that's one of the reasons i love this new camera. Manual controls and fairly small. I'm going on a trip to the dominican republic next month and am thrilled to have this camera for that- otherwise i'm afraid i wouldn't have taken very many pictures at all.

Hello, I'm Nathan and I'm a cameraholic.  We've recently bought an E-P1 to document the birth and the life of our son who is due to be born on the 28th september. Why the PEN? for me, I otherwise shoot film and have a number of LTM and M lenses as well as an OM outfit and the compatibility of the PEN is amazing. also, i don't have a spare £5k for an M9 quite yet  ::)
Nathan.

Hi Ta King Here. I have been using my E-P1 for a few months now. Absolutely love it. For years I have been hacking my way to get the lomo/Holga effect on digital cameras. I hacked a few compact cameras hoping to replace lc-a lens on it. I sucessfully hacked a Holga lens to put on my 5d and also sucessfully hacked the Gakkenflex lens just before I got my e-p1. The pinhole and grainy film art filters had me hooked. I have not used my other cameras since.
That's me done :)
