Hi everyone, I just got my E-P1 with 17mm 1:2.8 and the MMF-1 Adaptor with a 35mm 1:3.5 Macro. I work as an engineering inspector so this will be used mainly for work, though with my other hobby of painting miniatures (toy soldiers) it will come in useful. This was the 1st picture I ever took with the camera

this is the kind of pictures I take for work

Get an UV filter and a hood if this is going to be the kind of picture you will be mainly taking, you don't want a molten metal droplet to hit the front element of your lens!
Welcome to the forum, BTW!

Hi all, I'm Franco, from Italy: I live in the North West of the counrty, near Genoa. I take photos from the early '90ties, and I like very much all kind of analogue cameras, but I recently bought an Olympus E-PL1 and I'm having good time playing with it and with my adapted manual lenses: I found this forum searching info about the camera, and... Well, let's see how it goes!!  ;-)

Hi y'all... I live in Austin, Texas and have been using the E-P1 since October 2009.  I have only one micro4/3 lens, the 17mm f/2.8 but I don't use it all that much.  I also have an E-3 and use all the 4/3 lenses on the E-P1 with an adapter.  The feature I like most is HD video.  And the features I dislike most is the lack of a viewfinder in daylight and the low resolution LCD.   I often shoot in very low light at the music venues around Austin.  I took my first photos over 50 years ago but have only recently renewed my interest.  I plan on upgrading to the E-P2 and the successor to the E-3.

Glad you could join us! Despite it's flaws, the E-P1 is still a pretty amazing camera.

Hi all

Had my E-P1 just over a month now and very pleased with it.  JPEG's are excellent, however I managed to blow some highlights on some holiday snaps(?), which I know was down to my carelessness.

Snaps get blown-outs most of the time, so don't worry and welcome to the forum!

I've been hot on the trail of an Olympus Pen epl-1 over the past couple of months.

I finally ordered and received one yesterday...and want to thank all of the forum members and staff for providing me with great info over the past few weeks!
You've all been most helpful in educating me.

I have dabbled in photography most of my life...mostly with Nikon SLRs and more recently...DSLR's..Nikon types.

I've found them incredibly capable, though cumbersome for carrying
around casually. I tried a Nikon Coolpix recently, but found it really frustrating...so my search for a compact lead me here.

I'm thrilled to have this epl1 in my hands and so far, it is all that I expected!

I look forward to learning much more here to further appreciate these marvelous cameras!
thanks to you all,
gary

Hi everyone~!

I'm really just a self-taught amateur. I've been doing photography with a Pentax K-10 for 2 years now, and that thing is just too heavy to take some places. I've been wanting a lighter camera, and before I saw the PEN I was thinking about the Panasonic Lumix lx3. But... the changeable lenses and those adorable art filters - yes, the art filters - got me right in my lomo-loving heart, and the PEN has that retro film camera look that I loved about the Lumix's design. I'll be saving up for this precious camera over the course of this next year, so I'll mostly be lurking unfortunately. Please shower the gallery with your photos!

In case anyone wants to see anything I've shot, I'm on Deviantart as soulcavity.deviantart.com. I mostly shoot ball jointed doll photography nowadays, but there's other stuff mixed in with it I promise. XD

Thanks for reading!
-Serenia

Welcome, Serenia,
As you will find out, we are a community, centered more around photography and slightly less around E-P1, so we will be glad to have you share your work and participate in the conversations around.
There is a special gallery category for non-m4/3 cameras, and you can also create a gallery of your own, in which you can upload just about any photo, including those old LOMO-stile film scans  8)

Another forum?  Why not!  I have had my e-pl1 for just over a week now, by way of a GF1 (jumped on the beach camera double discount 2 weeks ago, couldn't resist trying it out and I was impressed enough to replace the GF1 entirely); I am primarily a Pentax user, and love putting those lenses to use with m4/3 as well.  I am a semi-regular at pentaxforums, mu-43 and rarely on dpreview as well - looking forward to getting to know some people here!

Hi all,

I just got my E-P1 a few weeks back at an IT show (quite a steal) - love it! Although the photography(er) needs some work haha... looking forward to learning more from everyone!

by the way i live in singapore, which can be a little warm and humid - am quite keen on the experiences of photographers living in tropical countries! i find my PEN tends to heat up quite quickly - extended HD videos are out of the question.
