Greetings from Norway!

Sold my Canon EOS 450D to get the E-P1, have not regretted it. A plus for me was that I can use the lenses I use on my Leica M2 on the PEN (I am waiting for the adapter I ordered from China).

I got the 17mm + the kit lens and I am quite happy with them.

This looks like a nice forum!

Welly,
Welcome home.
I found for my needs, the Pen delivers.
I tried the GF1 but can't see having 2 cameras of the same form.
I bought a G1 as the second camera. I don't use any lenses other than the dedicated ones. I use the 14/42 or 14/45 on the G1 and the
17 or 20 on the Pen. If I started with my Leica glass, I'd never get anything done.
Good luck.....

Hi everyone.
I have yet to order my pen camera but will in the next couple of days. Thanks for setting up this forum. I think the Pen appeals to very social photographers and I believe in the future this forum will be a strong community of users based more on pictures taken, videos made, and sharing the quality and enjoyment of hobbies and life. Too many forums about photography are hung up on equipment measurements and elitism. I like hearing about new equipment as much as anyone, but it is so nice seeing people use their equipment to capture their world and share their view with the next guy!

Cheers-
Rob

Hey everyone - Just registered and wanted to say hi.  I was really psyched when I came across this site last week, as I'd been looking into the possibility of getting an E-P1.  After a day or so of reading through the forums, I ran out and snagged one at the local camera shop.  Absolutely gorgeous camera that takes beautiful shots.  I'll post a few of my first pics later today.

Looking forward to chatting with you all.

hello, I found and joined the forum today ... got my EP-1 on 19-Dec-09.

My Pen is finally my chance to have a digital Voigtländer camera, I picked it up in a bundle with the 17 + 14-42 lens but I'll be adding a Voigtländer 40/1.4 and possibly a 15/4.5 too?

I've been shooting as a hobbiest since 1987, started with Canon FD kit but had Olympus OM-1 for many years as a 'small kit'.  Always did love Olympus kit.  My other camera is a Nikon D700 but its too big to take everywhere.  That is where the PEN comes in.  I used to shoot wildlife with big long teles but fancied a change so sold up my long gear a few years ago.

The E-P1 will come with me on all work trips and any days out.  Its so small and so cool, I love it!

Hello, I finally decided to join the forum after spending a lot of time everyday checking the threads. I just got the amazing E-P1 for christmas along with the 14-42mm kit lens. I have had superzooms, regular p&s and a couple of entry dslrs. The E-P1 is just the perfect camera for me. It is so versatile - you can use it as a simple p&s, or you can build yourself a serious setup (macro, portrait etc.) The viewfinder is not important for me, and since the E-P1 and E-P2 are basically the same, except EVF and AF tracking (cool but for me a gimmick) I opted for the E-P1. I also love the silver/black color - so retro and classy :)

Well I hope that this forum will grow big - it has the potential. I just hope that there will be challenges for the users. So every week a subject is being chosen for the challenge, and by the end of the week the users have to show their contribution (1-3 images) and the admin/mod will chose the winner, 2nd and 3rd place. Could that be an idea?

, it really is a great forum , your right about that.

i think the forums can compliment each other nicely ,........... when i make my daily visit  to e-p1 .net and read all unread comments, add a  few of my own and perhaps a picture or  lens quality sample of some quirky modification im working on , im finished in less than 1\2 an hour , i hope to have more interesting ep1 and gf1 related stuff  to read of  by virtue of the ever widening interest in things micro 4\3rds in the photographic community on the internet.  folks who understand the importance ,significance, useability, and versitality and  compactness of this  amazing new format

Cosinaphile, I agree.  gained a huge amount of momentum in 2009, and I expect even bigger things in 2010.  There should be plenty of enthusiasm to go around!

Hello all!  I just posted a question in the EP2 forum, but thought I would come over and introduce myself.  I'm an art historian living in Tokyo currently (though home is really Boston in the US) and a total novice when it comes to anything other than a point-and-shoot.  When I'm not doing research, I can be found stuffing my face with delicious ramen, jogging to help combat the effects of that ramen, or leveling my tauren druid in WoW.  ;)  I look forward to getting a new camera soon and playing around with it out here!

I'm awaiting my e-p1 in a few days with 14-42mm lens kit. It's a birthday present from my girlfriend and my nine month old daughter. I used a olympus miu 750 compact camera, so I'm a complety rookie but I want a better pictures from my baby so I hope to get it with my new PEN!!!

Thank you for this site

... er... ummm... well... OK, I did NOT use my e-p1 today. I admit it. (Gawd, I'm so ashamed!)    ;)
HOWEVER, since I got mine, a few months ago, I hardly ever pick up my DSLR (currently a Pentax K7). My lil pen is in the front pocket of a goofy-looking small shoulder bag, EVERY DAY. With an extra battery (I've never needed), and lots of 8gb SD cards.

Anywho, my name's Mike. I've been an avid hobbyist photog for about 40 years. I built a nice career in another biz, but a weird illness forced me to the sidelines. (I'm fine... it's not life-threatening.) Ever since then, I've come back to photography with as much zeal as I had 40 years ago! I'm looking forward to cool tips and interaction here at e-p1.net

I hail from New York and am a former OM-1 devotee who studied photography in the fine arts tradition quite a few years ago... In my travels through the Internet in reading about cameras and looking at photographs, I discovered the new four thirds Olympus cameras and have become more than intrigued.

I figure it's about time to get back into the photographic mode again with a big step forward from my handy, but limited,  Canon p & s. I'm in the process of making the decision between the tow versions and am leaning towards the E-P2 due to my less well functioning eyes and my old OM lenses.

Many thanks for your site! 8)

Hello Everyone. Greetings from Hong Kong.

I bought an E-P2 from a shop exactly one month ago. I would say that this little marvel rekindles my love and passion for photography. It's now in my bag everyday.

I can't remember for sure. I may have come to this board via thread reading in DPreview or photos searching in Flickr.

Hello,

I'm new to the EP-1 (bought my camera last Tuesday) and new to Olympus Digital. I stumbled upon this site by following a link from Flickr.
I've always shot with DSLR but I've been waiting for a range finder sized camera with SLR quality. I was going to give it a few more years before I bought a micro 4/3 camera, but when I picked up an EP-1 in store I just had to have it there and then.

So I got the kit with the 17mm Pancake, viewfinder and the 14-42mm kit lens. I've just sent off for my free FL-14 flash which I don't think I'll use much as it is fixed, I think (never seen one in the flesh).

So there you go. I hope to pick up a few pointers from this site. Unfortunately I probably don't have an awful lot of knowledge to give back, but you never know.

Steve.

Hi!

Got my E-P1 14-42mm KIT several months ago an was looking for a community to really gather some expertise.
I am new to photography and this is my first camera. I bought it because I liked it visually at first. Now I like it more and more!
