As of today you can order a brand new Olympus E-PL1 with the kit lens for only $479, a price that seems quite a bit lower than just a week ago when it was over $500 for the kit.

Any ideas why Olympus is doing this? The E-PL2 possibly being released seems like the most likely candidate. But when?

Actually $479 is a high price for the E-PL1. It's been $449 quite often for the last couple of months from a variety of retailers such as Fry's. I don't think it's Olympus doing anything. Never pay MSRP.

I had no idea the price was going down so fast. Good, the Costco E-P1 deal was bothering me as being cheaper than the E-PL1.

It baffles me that people pay close to $400 for G11 or a LX3 or a TL500. I can understand for a S90/S95 since they are tiny and pocketable. A G11, LX3 and TL500 aren't. Might as well step up to a PEN for better IQ.

I would assume the G11 reason is the Canon is great example. Not sure about the others, just consumer stupidity I guess.

Everybody expects a PEN in photok (maybe that's why), I'm getting kinda scared theres not gonna be anything.

Yeah, I haven't heard anything for both Panasonic and Olympus. I honestly don't get why they wouldn't release a new camera though, the E-P2 needs to be replaced soon.
