I never saw one myself. I also don't see Ricoh products being sold in Bulgaria.

I know about it, but I never saw one in live. It's an interesting concept. Slightly ineconomical if a new sensor has to be purchased together with every new lens, however.

ive handeled it briefly, i was impressed by its build quality, as i am with all ricoh camera products , they are built to a higher standard than the avg machine , not leica level , but above the norm... they exude quality housings and designs and a sensitivity to the need of the advanced shooter or pro who need a small take everywhere machine , they have a small and devoted following ,me and a couple of users in seattle[kidding! ;)]

sometimes ricoh IQ is not stellar at high iso but they are such well designed  cameras with metal shells and superour optics  , the interface and control and options betray a maturity and love of shooting in the designers that i forgive its shortcomings

i own the gx200 a full manual /auto iso 64- 1600 with stellar iq at lower isos
it had macro capabilities that put most p&s to shame , seriously the 24-72 equiv 2.2-4.4 lens is very very good... the sensor is the weak link, yet its goodness  at iso 64 makes me accept its limitations at iso 400 and above [noise]

the gxr is a great concept but  the  first 2 sensor\lens modules  were the
a-12 s-10 one a 50 equiv aps-c sensored macro and the other the same fine lens as my gx 200  the 24-72 f 2.2-4.4 with the 1.7 sensor

the other ricoh i have is the cx1 a 28-200 point and shoot with  the really tiny sensor in most pand s.. the third module is essentiallythe 28-200 streched to 300 [a la cx-3]

when the actual modular concept for the gxr  was announced i must admit  i was a little dissapointed  by it, the rumors were all pointing to an interchangable lensmount that i dreamed would allow m mount lenses to be used...if i sell my gx 2oo [but i dont want to :(] i could see me getting the gxr , but if a mock up of the gxr m mount \aps-c\ sensor lens seen at a trade show in the ricoh booth  is ever made ,or another compelling sensor \lens is produced , i will buy one instantly, ricoh is one of the most unknown great camera companies in the world , the camera devision is tiny , but produce extraordenary stuff

good intentions, bad product. Carrying around lenses is one thing, but carrying a bunch of sensors around is just weird.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

+not really each sensor is matched to the lens  so apsc v 1.7 and 2.5 sensors
in one machine , also amodule that is m mount might be built , that would make this the killer machine

each sensor\lens module is no more difficult than a lens to carry about they are smallish
but certainly not much different than hauling lenses apsc and advanced point and shoot wth the same intelligent intuiitive machine  read about it ,its s interesting  , imagine a  storage viewer module a projector module a printer module ....... all with the  same body and that suburb 920,000 screen   , it not easily dismissable ,imho

cosinaphile, that is fascinating, indeed. I read about these about the time I joined this forum, and I was intrigued by the flexibility of the system....APS-C and small P&S sensors, different lenses, zooms and primes, and all compact and easy to carry....just could not believe it at the time...but later on, more than nine months later, just the two initial offerings, sort of disappointing.
Also, I live in a small country, and maybe that explains it, but I never saw a Ricoh camera in live. Nobody retails them around, just like Pany m4/3.....

they now have 3 modules 30mm 2..5 macro aps-c  50mm equiv

the 24-72mm 2.2-4.4 1.7 point and shoot sensor module like the  cx-200 has

the 28-300 3.5-5.6 module 2.5 sensor [ smallest one] like the cx-3 and the cx-4 have

i believe another one or two  additional modules  have been announced and they are talking about storage drives and small printer that also might interface with the camera"body" as well , but the real module that will stop the hearts of the ricoh forum faithful is a m mount module either full frame or apsc or aps-h sized  flavor ..... im p 8) 8)ersonally waiting for this

I'd opt out for the first two....And an interchangeable lens(lens only) one will be also a good choice. I hope they both release it soon, and improve their distribution channels....

since every other maker makes their camera lenses and sensors , i dont see it as necessarily as more propreitary ,
equally , and really if that module with a m mount is produced it will open up pairing many manufactuerers with the body , which  without a module is quite thin on the right side

the main difference is; with other interchangable lens camera systems the sensor lives with the 'body "....on the gxr it lives with the lens in a sealed module
which means that the same body can be paired with different sized sensors
without losing the interface or manual controls ricoh is famous for
