No post-processing - also, with the kit lens...

Kevlar on = "check"
Nomex on = "check"

"Combat Mission Ready sir" - (This is from a Sony NEX-3)

More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

I'll be the first to say that on the opposite/negative hand, the image is a bit soft (which has been stated quite often about the NEX) - But ISO 3200 *should* be very effective with an increase in in-camera sharpening...

quite nice, but this isn't that difficult..give me some pics at iso6400 wit low light level, high contrast and moving objects. Then I want to see how the pixels are in the bokeh and unsharp zones.  This is not a moving object, with not that much contrast, quite easy subject for high iso.  nevertheless, I ve seen much worse at 6400 with a  DSLR camera. :-)

Its soft yes, but it has no motion or that many artifacts, a high pass filter could help this a lot

A high pass will amplify the noise. You need a more complicated algorithm, but you will also loose the natural feeling of the photo.

a good trick not to amplify noise is to desaturate it first then use the high pass on low levels, just until you see the edges. Tis way not much noise gets amplified

I think the Unsharp mask does that for me....sort of both blur and then sharpen.

unsharp mask does do that but high pass is way more effective, in terms of sharpening and keeping noise low. It's all about preference in the end I guess...

I prefer to not shoot in JPEG just because although you can get better noise reduction, you lose so much else that you can do with the photo.

This.

I use jpeg for things that I am sure I won't edit later on, like just hanging out.
