"Kevlar check"
"Nomex check"

Again, this is from a NEX-3......18-55 kit lens, no post-processing

Looks like ISO 6400 from a Digital PEN.

the 6400 was good, but I cant stand banding, on any camera
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Yes, this looks very much like the ISO 6400 my from E-P1. The NEX cameras do handle high ISO very nicely, though I'm not sure how many people will dare venture that high (which is not many, judging by the ISO 6400 feedback I've seen on this forum).

Yep - I doubt very seriously that I'll "use" ISO 12,800.....

However, 6400 is very workable.... 8)

Centauri27, By all reviewers NEX cameras lack detail....I am certain that the extra half a stop (because the difference in pixel pitch corresponds to about half a stop) actually comes from filtering noise out.
Furthermore, in a Bayer-type sensor, each pixel actually records one colour only, with the actual colour approximated from adjasent pixels. Changing the approximation method may bring certain types of noise down, at the expense of loss of detail and the like.

doesnt anybody remember back when ISO 1600 was really sensitive? it was the highest of the high, now people look at ISO 12800 and go: meh... like it's nothing. It's unprintable yes but from what I gather most of the people here don't print anyway. Noise reduction, re size and BAM, perfect for web gallery.

I still remember when ISO 1600 was judged as the highest as you could go in the reviews. But I never believed that, I had an old Pentax *ist DS with the famed 6 megapixel sensor, and it gave me some great high ISO photos.
