I would like the option to take 5 shots at 1EV differences.
I would settle for +/- 2EV difference for their 3-shot bracketing. The 1EV setting is very limiting.

In other words an HDR mode?

Precisely! I'm trying to explore the world of HDR photography-- +/1EV doesn't do much. And it's a pain to manually dial up and down your exposure between shots.

I'd like to have the remote control capability un-crippled, so that the E-P2's remote will work with the E-PL1.  I believe the sockets are identical...

And an HDR mode would be great, maybe up to 7 shots with selectable spacing.

Plus - have you noticed that in auto-bracketing mode, you must turn on the sequential-shooting mode and hold down the shutter to get the 3 shots to fire?  Otherwise you must press separately for each shot, and it's easy to forget if you've grabbed all 3, especially after many such shots.  SO it would be good to just fire all three on a single momentary press like other cameras... fix that!

Internal wiring may be different.

Guys, there is a link above, you might be really able to contribute to the process!

Don't know if firmware would do it - but I would like to have wireless control for off camera flash. And quicker response time for shutter button, And simplified custom WB without having to use the Fn button.

There is quite a bit of menu diving that could probably be very easily cut down on the PEN cameras. Especially to get to even simpler settings.

Changes I'd like to see on the E-PL1 firmware:

- Ability to set Shutter Release to another button
- Ability to assign a custom function the "Trash" button (it would be nice to assign Shutter release to it so you can use it in Portrait orientation
- Ability to show only the info you want on the LCD (a la Canon CHDK)
- A 2X or 3X Magnification in addition to to 7X and 10X

I would love a customizable LCD screen. The one on the E-P1 was a bit crowded.

I would like to have presets for legacy lenses that sets the Focal Length for IS and writes the lens name to the EXIF data.

Pentax does something like that, it would be a nice thing to carry over.

Have never shot a Pen (except in the store).

1. Would like less mag than 7X for manual focusing. My Pentax k-7/20D goes from 2x-10x. Afraid 7x will be tough to do handheld.

2. Multiple exposure mode like K-7. Up to 9 shots with ev adjusted. Gives incredibly low noise with nonmoving subjects.

3. Combining of shooting info on lcd without the image being made miniscule. Pentax is much easier/quicker to use for reviewing images with full info. E30 makes you toggle between 3 or more displays.

4.  Mirror lockup- gotta ya! ;D

thanks

I would like a distance readout on the display, for manual focusing in total darkness. It doesn’t have to be to the millimetre, the nearest predicted centimetre will suffice.

Alternatively (or additionally) I’d like a focus “shot box” feature where I can use one of the dials, or perhaps even the focus ring, to jump from a series of presettable distances — for example: 75cm, 1.5m, 3m, 5m, 7m, ∞. That would get me through a considerable amount of my out-and-about candid shooting.

WOW, people, there has been quite some progress:

There is a report that actually one of the warning messages has been replaced! Not much though, but that's quite a start.

Since the PENs have no mirror, there's nothing to "lock up". But Olympus does provide an "anti shock" feature that delays the shutter release to reduce the possibility of vibration. You can set it anywhere from 1/8 to 30 seconds.

Actually, it's possible to select the aperture when using an art filter: just use the vertical scroll wheel. More info from this blog post (scroll down to the "May 4" post):

I have used the vertical scroll wheel to change the aperture... the problem is, it continues to like adjust itself.  I tend to shoot with a very shallow depth of field and like to keep my lenses at f2.8. When shooting in aperture priority, it always returns to the last aperture I set.  The art filters do no do this.  I find myself resetting it each shot to make sure I'm at f2.8.

Ah yes...I just noticed you said "complete" aperture control. Yes, that would be a useful hack. At least it gives you some control right now.

One thing...   to change the manual focus sequence for MF lenses...

Manual focus, using zoom focus, is a big pain on the E-P2.   You have to push the "OK" button to zoom focus, then after you focus, you have to push "OK" again to get out of 'zoom focus' mode, reframe the shot, etc.

I would like to use zoom focus, then after the camera is focused, press the shutter button halfway to cancel zoom focus and return to full field of view...    then snap the shot.

Seems like it could be accomplished by firmware modification (of which I know absolutely nothing).  ;-)

I just checked the blog... can you believe he sold his E-p1 for a Nikon D3000?!!  Shameful.

Same problem with the E-P1, and something that I found very irritating.

I can agree with requested changes for MF... I love shooting with my MF lenses, so much so that I just purchased a 28mm f2.8 to fill in the gap between my Oly 17mm and my 50mm Nikkor.  While irritating, the issue with the zoom for manual focus actually slows me down and forces me to really think about the shot before I take it.
For those who are looking for a faster solution to focusing manual focus lenses, check out this article: http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2010/09/04/shooting-fast-with-a-leica-by-robert-boyer/
