Imaging-resource is the only one of all of those that I would put any trust into really. The rest are just too biased.

Not knowing that much about imagin-resource myself, I won't make a comment one way or the other due to lack of information on my part.....

That being said, I'll be sure to NOT disregard Imaging-Resource due to your input.....

Imaging-resource and DCresource are my two favorites because they don't play the Canon and Nikon is better than anyone else (and now Sony) game. They actually test out the cameras and give honest opinions without any personal bias (DCresource has been known to do this at least once though, but otherwise they're one of the best).

I think DP review does a good job and it is now very easy to compare cameras.

I have agree in that I also can't stand Nikon users bashing Canon & nor can I also stand Canon users bashing Nikon.  Both manufacturers have their strengths & weaknesses...

My own personal bias possibly being a part of this, I hope that you're kidding.

They give cameras that are not Canon or Nikon lower rankings for things that they claim "don't make a difference for anything really, so we won't give a lower rating" on Canon and Nikon.

I think this debate has another time and place. But not now and not in this thread. :-)

I actually like Pop Photo a lot.  But it has fallen behind in the online age.  Most people don't even know what it is or they think it's a young upstart.  I don't know why it doesn't get the respect it should.  I guess it's kind of like people preferring the Huffingtonpost for news online instead of the New York Times.  I still subscribe to Pop Photo.

Even though this might not be the place, you're right, you'd have to be brain damaged to not notice how biased they are. But there's a remedy for this, all you have to do is look at their reviews and NOT read their opinions. There's good information about specs and controls and the photos of ISO and sharpness are right there, all you have to do is look at them and BE YOUR OWN JUDGE. You cant stand noise? the NEX 5 looks cleaner, cant stand softness? the PEN is a lot sharper. Just don't read what they have to say, they'll just recommend you a canon!
OO, and DxO Mark told me THEMSELVES that the ratings on their site are on the sensor itself, on the potential of it, and that it is NOT indicative of real world quality.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Look at the examples. Not the subjective commentary which is shifting from product to product and year to year.

Here's an interesting review:
http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/NEX5/NEX5A.HTM

"Though I wouldn't say the Sony NEX-5 blows all the other cameras out of the water, it certainly does better at more elements in our Still Life target than any of the cameras we set it against. For the price, the Sony NEX cameras are the new quality leaders."

I read the entire DCResource review today, I must say one thing about the NEX, it does high ISO noise very well.

One of the points I've been trying to illustrate via my discussions about DXOMark tests....

I'm afraid I had forgotten that my Pentax K-x uses a Sony sensor before.

And your Pentax K-x Sony sensor is also the same sensor that's also in the:

NEX-3/NEX-5
Nikon D5000/90/300

I don't think it's the same one as the D90, the high ISO on it only goes up to 3200 without expansion. Not sure if that's a software thing.

voyager,
All I can say is this....

Nikon uses Sony sensors & yet Nikon **generally** peforms better than Sony in the hi ISO arenas....The explanation for this is that Nikon's firmware is more capable than Sony's.....

And I suppose Pentax even better than Nikon then. The K-x has the absolute best high ISO that I have ever seen on an APS-C camera.

Not according to DXOMark....;)

LoL but that being said, it's definitely possible that Pentax firmware is also better than Sony....The K-x is very highly rated  8)

That goes back to why I don't really like DXOMark that much. I've seen many samples from the D90 and the K-x. The K-x easily wins. A lot of what goes into the sensor is what the camera does with the data that it gets when it takes a photo.

If memory serves correct, Alpha 500 is the Sony 'sensor' equivalent....Now I know you don't like DXOMark...but for sake of discussion, let's see where the Sony fits in....

#17 = Nikon D90
#18 = Nikon D5000
#19 = Pentax K-x
#23 = NEX-5
#26 = NEX-3
#43 = Sony alpha500

#78 = EP2
#85 = EP1
#87 = EPL-1
Cameras in BOLD all share the same sensor....

I'd guess that the NEX3/5 perform better than the alpha 500 because they're newer and by definition of being newer, "should" have more updated/capable firmware....
