Like this?

Example:

Leica Mount adapter - (screw mount usable with M39 adapter)
Cosina-Voigtlander
  • CV Ultra Wide Heliar Aspherical 12mm f/5.6 // rating 4/5
  • CV Super Wide Heliar Aspherical 15mm f/4.5 // rating 4/5
  • CV Colour Skopar C 35mm f/2.5// rating 3/5
  • CV Color Skopar 21mm f/4.0 // rating 3/5
  • CV Snapshot Color Skopar 25mm f/4.0
  • CV Color-Skopar 28mm f/3.5
  • CV Color-Skopar 35mm f/2.5
  • CV Nokton 'classic' 40mm f/1.4
  • CV Nokton 'classic' 50mm f/1.1
  • etc......

How detailed do you want to go? I mean, these lenses are available coated/multi-coated and in both screw and bayonet fitting.

You could also just list every single screw mount lens ever made :P All of the russian ones, minolta/leica ones, Zeiss ones... etc. Then all the bayonet fitting lenses for the same.

Then you move on to OM lenses / Nikon bayonet fitting lenses / Canon FD lenses / Pentax / Cine-lenses....

Maybe a table would be better:

Adapter Type  Manufacturer Lens name Rating
Leica M Cosina-Voigtlander Nokton 'classic' 40mm f/1.4    4.5/5

Maybe it would be more useful to compile a database, with charts, of the µ4/3 and adapted glass we've all started to collect, just like my friends in Spain are doing:

1) For 4/3 and µ4/3 glass:

2) For other adapted glass:

Would be useful for newbies like me to know what adapter is needed and average price we can expect to pay (new or used)

That would be great. Anyone remember the old photodo lens survey database where users could submit 1-5 ratings for their lenses' center and corner performance wide-open vs stopped-down, vignetting, distortion, CA, flare, bokeh, etc.?

It would be useful to collect info on which lenses actually work well on m4/3, at what focal lengths does corner smearing become a problem, and if everybody thinks the bokeh on the CV f/1.4 pancakes looks nasty, etc.

I'm using an adapter for Nikon F lenses, see http://e-p1.net/index.php?topic=718.0. I've paid US $74.50 (incl. shipping). Currently used it with the Nikon AF 50mm/1.4 and AF 35mm/2.0. Longer lenses are quite difficult to focus manually without using a tripod (reaching the "OK" button challenges my finger acrobatics skills.)

I'm using the Oly 4/3 14-42 lens on the  E-P1. What a wonderful little lens. I'd recommend it over the m4/3 14-42 any day.

Currently used it with the Nikon AF 50mm/1.4 and AF 35mm/2.0. Longer lenses are quite difficult to focus manually without using a tripod (reaching the "OK" button challenges my finger acrobatics skills.)

The AF Micro Nikkor 105mm 2.8 works very well too.

Please post every lens that you know of that will work on the E-P1 (adapter or not).

I have the following:
Nikon AI Mount via micro 4/3 Adapter:
70-210mm Macro Vivitar Series One Zoom(67mm UV filter/tele hood), rating 5/5
28-210mm Macro Vivitar Zoom(72mm UV filter/wide angle hood), rating 3/5
   50 mm F1.4 Nikon, rating 5/5
   85 mm F1.8 Nikon, rating 5/5

Hope this helps your database.

my favorite "new" lens is the contax 90  G sonnar 2.8 , ive added a gear taken from  transmission in the the bottom of an old minolta rangefinder to my ep-1 case to make the contax easier and faster to focus

what an amazing lens, and at 180 equiv im finding it easy to mf the fine glass to my surprise

Well this is what I use...

Manual focus lenses...
Schneider - Kreuznach Xenon 40mm f/1.9 Robot mount
Olympus OM 28mm f/2.8
Olympus OM 50mm f/1.4
Olympus OM 50mm f/3.5 macro
Olympus OM 200mm f/4
Komura Telemore95 II 7.K.M.G 2x teleconverter (OM mount)

Autofocus lenses
Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 14-42 f/3.5-5.6
Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7
Panasonic Lumix G Vario 45-200mm f/4-5.6

Used but no longer have
Vivitar 28mm f/2 OM mount. I worked but it was a load of crap. Very soft, lots of flare, haloing and aperture stuck wide open (a common problem with Vivitar lenses).
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.

I've got a bunch of Takumars. They are readily available and use an M42 adapter.

* Takumar 50mm f/1.4
I have 2 versions of this, they are both good. A very fast 100mm lens for indoor shooting at events and very nice soft backgrounds.  A bit dreamy at f/1.4, but fine by one click in. Hard to focus at f/1.4 with the E-P1. I have both the super takumar (about 1967) and super multi coated (1970?) takumar versions. These particular (the 50mm) lenses are fairly radioactive (gamma) if you care.

* Takumar 28mm. f/3.5. A fun lens, but some chromatic abberation at the edges, mostly gone by f/4.

* Takumar 50mm f/4 1:1 Macro lens.  A super macro lens that can also be used as a normal lens (it will focus to infiinty). Mine is circa 1966 or so. This is the older version, the newer one is "only" 1:2

* Takumar 135mm f/3.5. A very sharp lens even at f/3.5. I have an older version from the 1960's

* Takumar 200mm f/4 SMC from the early '70s. Really really nice lens. And the E-P1 will stabilize it enough that you can shoot handheld if you are careful. A little hard to hold still enough to focus at f/4 handheld with the magnify function though.

These lenses are all available very reasonably on ebay. (the 50mm commands a better price (maybe up to $100) because some people like to use them for video). The 135mm can be had as cheap as $30, there are so many. These are built "like a tank" all metal and smooth smooth focus and nice clicky aperture rings.

wow those takumars sound wonderful , the only pentaxs im using on the ep1 are the auto 110s

i use the 3 most common ones an 18 a 24 and a 50 and a second fifty that is permanantly extension 'tubed" as a "macro" giving about 1:2 , without infinity focus , the rest infinity focus fine , they are all sharp and contrasty and most importantly tiny as well , they look cool on the ep1 and the gf1 i especially like the 18 which i only got a bout 2 weeeks ago, its really a great lens
