Zeiss Jena 29mm f2.8 (M42) Lens Samples *****
« on: January 30, 2010, 07:17:00 AM »
This is a nice wide-angle for the E-P1, pretty sharp and bright but some bad flaring with background light. I picked mine up for about £50 on ebay.

Pictures are nice. The second is quite more attractive, because flaring adds up to the picture for more colour.
29mm is however considered a "Normal" lens for 4/3 and m4/3 since it's angle of view halves and is equivalent to that of a ~58mm in 35mm photography.
I have never seen flaring with my 14-42 kit lens. You should probably try a lens designed for digital cameras, since reflections from a film and from a digital cameras are different.
Other thing you could (theoretically) try is stopping down the lens a little with black paper on the exit. Instructions on how to do so are somewhere around on the forum.

I have a number of Zeiss Jena lenses for my Exakta SLR. (Tessar, Pancolar, Biometar, Flektogon, Sonnar) I never came across a 29 mm lens. What is it called? Sometimes they just show the abbreviation: T for Tessar or B for Biometar etc....

it says P - so Pancolar I guess - identical to this one. it does seem an unusual focal length..

cosinaphile - see the post above, that lens is identical to mine. I don't have another digital camera to take a photo of my E-P1 with it attached - it looks a bit chunky but pretty well balanced setup.

Very close. It stands for Pentacon I think.
There is a 2.8/29 mm Pentacon that is of the same design as the Meyer Orestogon. (7 lenses)
