Sony 18-108mm F2.5 TV Macro zoom lens. *****
« on: September 07, 2010, 11:23:54 AM »
I got this lens a few days back.  Look here for the specs.

http://www.ccddirect.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=17496

I mounted it this morning.  I had to remove the lower shell for it to fit in the recessed PEN C Mount adapters.  It was really overcast this morning so the shots aren't stellar.  I like this lens though.  I has a really wide focus range and does focus to infinity.  It's not full coverage.  I love that TV lenses are constant aperature.  It's F2.5 throughout the zoom range.

One set of shots is at F2.5 and the other is at F22.

So you took these with the PEN? In that case, I'm moving this to the Lens Sample Photo Archive!

That lens looks so silly mounted to your camera! :P
I really love the second shot....I didn't know it was possible for such blur to happen that much too a background...it's absolutely nuts!

You should take some portraits with this lens...I'm curious to see the results.

It's not bad! Putting the camera in 6x6 frame mode will probably cut the vigneted areas out.

Dude, it's crazy.  If I focus in on the grass, that rose in the front completely disappears even though it's right in front of the lens.  I've never seen a DOF effect to that degree before.  Also, the F22 shot shouldn't have anywhere near that amount of DOF.  At F22, it's basically a pinhole so everything should be in focus.

Yeah I was really confused about that....it really doesn't make sense for f/22.
Please take some portraits though, I want to see what happens. I bet it will look nuts! Everyone will probably think you photoshopped them in. haha
Make sure they're still though :P
