Olympus is also offering one of their little carrying cases, but the price tag on them is a bit high considering how much cheaper you can get them if you look around for off brand ones.

Here's the Olympus one, a tad pricey but handsome nonetheless :-)

Just wondering how stable you find the OEM case as the one I tried was a bit precarious when I tried it.

Wondering if it was just that case as they did not have another one at the time.

I ended up just getting the OEM brown leather strap - which is a beauty!

Stability was fine in mine...how did you find it precarious?
On the brown leather strap, I found mine to be better for the winter since I sweat a lot, hence I put a wrist strap on mine.

Whilst in store we rested it on the cabinet & it was wobbly?

I attributed this to the metal legs?

I do a lot of shots with the timer & this was too risky for me.

May need to try another one.

Were you using the kit lens or the pancake lens?

It is wobbly. I have the Olympus case. I am thinking about selling mine on ebay. Asashi has a nice case but he emailed me saying he is so backlogged and wont be taking orders.

Olympus is also offering one of their little carrying cases, but the price tag on them is a bit high considering how much cheaper you can get them if you look around for off brand ones.

Any links to manufacturers of non-OEM cases other than Aki Ahashi who are clearly swamped with orders? The OEM case (when there is stock, which there never seems to be) costs £60 ($95) in the UK, plus £50 ($80) for the strap. As good as it looks, paying 15% of the cost of the camera for a half-case and strap is pretty galling... A white one from Hong Kong is on eBay for £73 (case and strap) so clearly Olympus are price-gouging the UK compared to other countries (or the HK one is a cheap knock-off), but I really wanted the brown one...

Any suggestions for alternative manufacturers other than Aki Ahashi much appreciated...
Jason

I saw this on ebay and I'm so tempted to get it.

Just search for E-P1 case on ebay and you'll see a bunch of different sellers from Asia selling it in different colors (black, brown, white).

Problem with that one is that it covers the LCD.

If you like that style and not bothered by the LCD cover, get yourself a Canon Canonet QL17 case. My Canon rangefinder case fits the E-P1.

^ the top actually detaches and the bottom part can stay attached when you're shooting. It's a lot similar to the Olympus half case so it doesn't cover the LCD screen.

I bought a Sony Handycam Neoprene case from Walmart that fits the E-P1 with 14-42mm snuggly in it. I liked it because it wasn't bulky, and allowed me to slip my E-P1 into the case and then just toss it into a backpack.

This was the case:

So far this is the best case I could find.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Olympus-Pen-E-P1-Genuine-Leather-Half-Case-Strap-Black_W0QQitemZ180418738778QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDigital_Cameras?hash=item2a01cb7a5a

They need to improve the part near the lens release button.  Make that leather part fold over the top like on the other side too.  Then I'm sold.

I wonder how difficult it is to make this sort of case ourselves?

I just bought this case off Ebay and it's great. Nice soft leather and super cool looks. A great camera like the E-P1 needs a great case and this one certainly fits the bill.
